10 Reasons Why Blackpool is the Place to be this Winter

Are you looking for a place to spend the winter with that Christmas feeling without it being too cold? The place that  is easily reachable, has a lot of entertainment, has an ice skating rink, Christmas market and all that without breaking the bank? Then you should come to Blackpool. Why Blackpool you say? This is why:

Illuminations Season Extended

Blackpool was the first town to have electric street lighting and visitors have been coming to see Blackpool lights since 1879!

It has become one of the UK’s most enduring tourist attractions, currently it has more than 500 designs and features in six miles of display.

Starting 3rd September, Blackpool Illuminations will be shining all the way through to 3rd January 2022.

Guy Fawkes Night Celebration

V for Vendetta fan?

This obscure English celebration referenced in V for Vendetta commemorates the failure of the Gunpowder Plot of 1605 when Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London.

Strangely enough, in the current days the date is marked with burning an effigy of Guy Fawkes in a massive bonfire and blowing up some fireworks – making it a day for both pro and anti plot sympathizers to celebrate.

Blackpool usually celebrates 5th of November in Stanley Park at the Blackpool Cricket Club.

Friends Festive

FriendsFestive is coming back to Blackpool with all the best festive experiences from the Friends TV show, including The Holiday Armadillo’s Grotto!

Channel your inner Monica, Ross, Chandler, Rachel, Phoebe or Joey and re-enact iconic scenes from the show on the set.

Also, Thanksgiving themed food stalls and Christmas cocktails will be available as well.

Christmas By The Sea

Get into the Christmas spirit by visiting the Christmas Village right by the Blackpool Tower.

Snow cannons, magical Christmas tree forest with twinkling lights, Giant Illuminated Bauble, ice skating rink, festive light projection shows – all for free!

Warm up with a cup of hot chocolate or mulled wine from the Christmas Market and take a Santa tram ride on the Golden Mile.

Free Ice Skating Rink

As part of Christmas by the Sea festival, an outdoor ice skating rink is coming to Blackpool.

It will be located just in front of the Blackpool Tower and the best thing about it is that it’s absolutely free, including the skate hire!

Whether you are a real pro or have never actually tried ice skating before, come and join us for an evening of fun.

£1 Pound Burger Bar

Yes, that’s right, you can get a Burger in Blackpool for as little as a quid!

Funny Girls Christmas Show

Funny Girls is absolutely the best night out in the North West! This iconic burlesque cabaret bar has been open for more than 25 years and attracts the crowds every night to see the show and dance their socks off.

Located in a converted old cinema and decorated in the traditional Art Deco style, the building itself deserves a visit.
