The Co-living Room is at the back of the house. It’s a bright and sunny south-facing room with 6 windows catching the rays from early morning all the way to the early evening.
It’s not your home but the idea is we try to make it feel like your home. That also means doing your own washing up 🙂 Treat the house as your home when you stay for a month Somewhere Different and it will treat you back like you live there. Respect others, no loud noise after ten etc. All the usual things you expect when living with others in house share accommodation. As that is what you will be doing. We are not a coworking hotel, we are a Digital Nomad house for nomads to feel at home in, where you can put your guard down and be yourself.
Every Sunday we have a meal together so the newbies get to meet and greet everyone. Every Friday we do a ‘show and tell’ so you can see what everyone is doing professionally. We do weekend trips out, walking, partying to all making pancakes one day, as someone thought it was a good idea.
Large dining table for when we all eat together and a separate table for card games, breakfast, whatever you are doing.
The terrace will be built hopefully next year, the planning dept. is closed for now so hard to get things done in that area.
At the top of the house, there is a small living area with the wackiest chair you will ever sit in. I will add pics to the gallery section for this page as and when they get taken.
It’s all about getting away from your laptop and getting out there for some English cultural experiences – Somewhere Different.
Friday nights – We have ‘Show and Tell’ after work. Everyone does a 5 min PowerPoint Presentation on what they are doing. The idea is to show your fellow digital nomads so they can connect with you if in the same space and for you to practice your presentation skills and get feedback from your peers. We then go out to a show, bars, whatever is on the party plan for that evening.
Saturday – Is the big day out. We have several tried and tested day trips out from the house to get your legs working and to experience some local culture. Walks to country pubs, along the beach, horse riding, we have all kinds of activities that we all do together on a Saturday.
Sunday – Is changeover day. You can only arrive and check out on a Sunday. We are not a hotel. This means if you are leaving you need to be out of your room by 10.00 am and if you are checking in you can not get into your room till 2.00 pm as we need to clean them. If you are mid-stay, you are not affected by any of this and only expected to join in the group dinner in the evening to meet your new housemates who have arrived in the day.
£45 per month for a well-maintained bike to get you to anywhere you want along the coast and inland. You need to book them in advance. I don’t like having to do day hire as it gets messy so if you really only want the bike for a day is £10 a day or £30 for a week. Better to hire for the month and have it booked and ready to go the day you arrive.
Where can you on your bike? The Blackpool promenade is a few minutes away, turn left or right on the beach and cycle for miles in each direction enjoying the stunning views whilst never going on a road or crossing one. There is also the countryside 10 mins inland that with a bike allows you to explore non-tourist English villages and farmland that are not used to foreigners visiting them. Horse riding stables are 20 mins ride away. Go learn to ride a horse while you stay in Blackpool.
