Weather in Romania in October

The weather in October in Romania is either still like summer and very warm, with the evening cool and needed the help for a fire to keep you sitting outside on the evenings, or it can be on the change and be cool in the day and a little bit cold at night. We have been in Breb for the last three years and the weather has been great, dry, warm and perfect really. If you come and visit us on one of our Transylvania Tours or book one of our villas direct you will visit other parts of Romania as well as Maramures so I have put the details of the weather and daily temperatures in Romania in October there as well. Below are the temperatures for Maramures, Bucharest and Cluj Napoca

Weather in Maramures in October is statistically the driest month of the year, and with the temperature dropping can be on of the nicest months of the year to be in Romania. I can rain in oct, but it rare. You can still sleep out up at the cabanas but it is recommended to sleep in the cabanas and not around the fire as the temperature does drop in the night in October

Average temperature during October in Maramures is still warm and 13 degrees during the day but it can be as high as 25 degrees if the summer weather is still in full swing. It is normally around 4 degrees at night but there will be several days when the weather is still very warm at night so still great for sleeping out and watching the stars fro your sleeping bag set around an open fire outside one of our cabanas. If your interested in visiting Romania in October have a look at our Transylvania tours or book one of our villas direct that we run all year round.

Weather in Cluj Napoca in October is very pleasant, the heat has gone from they day and it can be a little bit cold at night but when your drive from the airport through the Carpathain mountains and Transylvanian country side in te late afternoon you will often see great sunsets due to the heat haze of the summer not being around any more allowing for some great pictures of the peasants of Transylvania going about their business in the fields finishing off the harvests and bring in the hay.

Average temperature in October in Cluj Napoca is 13 degrees in the day but it is often a lot warmer than this around lunch time, the time you come out of the airport and a low of 4 degrees at night.

Weather in Bucharest in October is great is still warm. I was living in Bucharest in October 2010 and it was still T shirt weather most of the time. I was sitting out in the cafes till midnight with just a T shirt and coat and not cold. Maybe it’s global warming, or maybe it’s just a short change in the climate but this October was very different to the official temperature records shown below. It didn’t rain once either.

Average temperature during October in Bucharest is 15 degrees during the day and a low of 4 degrees at night but my experience of Bucharest is it is much warmer than this most of the time in October having lived her all October in 2010.

Cloths recommended for October in Romania – T shirt, plus a warm jacket for the evenings. remember to bring some smart cloths as when you go out in the old city in Bucharest or the bars in Cluj, or you go to someone’s houses for sunday dinner in Breb, you will be expected to be smartly dress and not look like a traveller, with their faded safari trousers and well worn trainers, two month over due hair cut and washed to death T shirt and smelly fleece.
