Siwa Villa inside - Dining area
Fifteen foot dinning table that will fit 10+ easily
in the middle of the living area for when you all
want to get together for lunch or dinner. There's
is also a small table and seating area in the kitchen
if you feel 15ft of space is a bit much for you bowl
of cornflakes and coffee in the morning!

The kitchen has a gas oven with five rings, grill
and oven, fridge that keeps the beer cold even on
the warmest days, double bowled sink, cooking utensils,
plates, cutlery etc for 10. All the usual suspects
from a traditional. English kitchen. Siwans cook on
the floor, I don't know about you, but my back couldn't
cope with that. |

| Salt Room - Sleeps 2 I know what your thinking. the Flint stones... well
Fred's house is made of stone.. this one is made of
mud. Two large single beds with their own built in
bed side reading lights and cupboards are in this
room. A large wardrobe and side table made from slabs
of stone give ample storage space. A radiator at the
end of the room takes the edge off those chilly desert
mornings and a fan is high up on the ceiling for those
summer nights. All beds are provided with fresh linen
and towels that are changed regularly throughout your
stay. |

Stone room - Sleeps 2 A large double bed with separate reading lights and
cupboards on each side of the bed. A wardrobe, side
table radiator and ceiling fan are also in the room.
|
| |
|
|
Olive Room - Sleeps 1 or
2 Another twin room/single room
depending on the size of your group. We just add another
bed if your group is the maximum size of 10 people.
It has reading lights for each bed, wardrobe and small
cupboard.

Palm Room - Sleeps 4 The four beds in this large room are made of palm
trees, just in case you didn't notice. |
| |
|
|
If you're a kid, bags the top bunk! Even the top
bunk has it's own reading light you can switch off
with out getting out of bed. |
|
 |
| |
|
|
 |
|
There are two large singles at the other end of the
room, each with their own reading light. In the middle
is a large chest of draws ( antique Italian we are
told) and a wardrobe that is the biggest I have ever
seen. There is also Angus's boat collection.

The
fireplace backs on to the shower room making
it more like a steam room when there is a roaring
fire. The western toilet and shower are all
new. A gas boiler heats the water supply and
so provides a continuous supply of hot water.
Five plumbers and a lot
of ...chats later, they got the idea we did
not want an electric water heater that would
do two showers and then take another half hour
to warm up. It is a large room and a pleasure
to have a long, long shower in. |

Bathroom and toilets Fresh towels are provided every few days by Mohammad,
depending on your needs. |
| |
|
|
The
water is from a spring that is similar to the one
that provides the water for the Siwa Water factory
that provides bottled water for most of the country, so it's pretty good. |
|
|
| |
|
|
 |
There is a large cupboard under the sink and shelves
next to the shower for storing towels and shampoo
etc.Under the stairs
to the roof terrace there is another toilet and
hand basin. |

|
| |
|
|
There is another separate shower room in the Steam
house (on the left below) that has two showers in
it. |

Living Room This is a large long room through the middle of the
house. It is traditional for Siwan houses to have
one large living room facing north south to catch
the breeze that blows through the house through the
day to keep it cool.
|
| |
|
|
An
open fire provides extra heat in the winter
if required. Additional seating and cushions
are available if all ten of you want to cuddle
up. There are exposed palm tree beams on the
ceiling making the room look like an English
baronial hall. This is the traditional way of
making ceilings in Siwa.
The lighting is provided
by wall fittings made of salt giving a nice
warm glow in the evenings.
The floor through out
the house is a soft lime stone about 3 cm's
thick and needed a five tonne truck to deliver!
It took Penny nearly a month of solid tiling to get the floor
laid, but it was worth it.
Through out your stay Mohammad the house keeper will
be around to keep the fires burning in the house and
on the roof using local olive wood and the kitchen
sink free of washing up.
Not all of the rooms in the Siwa Villa have been
shown here. Please see other parts of the villa in
the relaxation and entertainment pages.
