Weather in Maramures
Because maramures ( or at least the part we are in) is located to the right side of the Carpathian’s, the mountains serve as a barrier to Atlantic air masses, limiting their oceanic influences to the west of the country which has milder winters and heavier rainfalls as a result. The mountains also block the continental influences of the vast plain to the north in the Ukraine, which results in frosty winters and less rain than other parts of Romania. So if it is raining on Baia Mare , chances are it is sunny on our side of Maramures ;)
