Bucharest
This Above is a picture of University Square in the center of Bucharest. It has a sign in it saying “Bucharest 0Km’s” it’s the center, another sign is a stone cross with the words ” Revolution 1989″ written on it. To commemorate the people who died in the square the day Nicolae Ceauşescu finally got the message and tried to flee, only to be executed on Christmas day. Most people, remember that day, they were alive. They know they have the power to overthrow their government… ” I’m, like… we did it once, we’re experienced it at now” they say.
Bucharest is an amazing city. It’s not as top 10 beautiful city like Prague or Budapest but the Bucharest women certainly make up for the lack of beauty in some of the buildings. Bucharest reminds me of Berlin, a city in change. Still making it’s history and not just living off it’s past. It’s population is officially 2.6 million but every one says it is around 4m. For a city of 4 million it has more parks, museums, theaters, stadium, that any city in the uk that has 4m people. It means Bucharest is a full blown city worth visiting and everything is super close by. The airport can be reached in 15 min’s ( at 4.00am) and most of the interesting things to see and experience are all within a short walk of the apartment you will be staying in when you com on our Bucharest and Maramures Tour.

In the evening you arrive we suggest you explore the area known as Lipscani the old city in Bucharest shown above. It is the new up and coming cafe society of Bucharest still showing the old word before 89′. To see how it easy it is to get to Bucharest have a look at the flights to Bucharest page and we’ll see you when you arrive in Maramures after you get the overnight train to Sighetu.
