School Teacher - Transylvania, Siwa Oasis and England

Somewhere Different is a travel company offering a unique blend of individually tailored tours and luxury villa accommodation in Siwa Oasis Egypt and Transylvania Romania. Due to our way of life we need a teacher to help our children Claudia and Angus finish there GCSE's. They have been home schooled for the last five years and are half way through their modules for GCSE's.The children know exactly what the need to do and have all the right books, they just need someone to help them do it.

The Role

  • To motivate and manage Claudia and Angus through their GCSE course work so they have learnt everything they need to know to pass their exams in May 2012 when they sit them in England. You will need to mark their work and set mock exams as they go and help them with the work they do not understand. Motivated pupils love to learn, bored pupils day dream and fail their exams. It's about creating the learning buzz and environment for them to learn what they need to know to pass their exams.

  • You will have a quite school room provide in the three different locations that you will be working in over the next year. You will run the 'school' and be responsible to make sure everything needed to do your work is available when needed.

Hours

  • 9.00am until 3.00pm 5 days a week. Potentially longer hours in the month leading up to their exams in May 2012.

  • 2 weeks paid holiday a year.

  • You will start in Transylvania Romania in September and stay there until April when you will all move to the UK a month before the exams. You will live in England untill the last exam is taken in late May/early June.

Required skills sets. Someone who:

  • Is passionate about teaching children and helping them learn.

  • Has not gone through teacher training courses or done 20 years as a school teacher and has been trained to do crowd control with 30 kids. No teaching qualifications or experience is needed. All the modules have work books with all the answers in them and examples of how to work them out. You read the books, understand it and help the children understand it to. You don't need a qualification to do this, just a passion for teaching and the organizational skills to do it.

  • Is a self starter and able to manage themselves and communicate the children's progress to Duncan in a weekly meeting.

  • Has recently passed their A levels (or equivalent of High School diploma if your not from the UK), ideally with good grades in Maths and English. This means you know how to read school books and learn what is needed to pass exams. This is the main skill set that we need.

  • English language should be your mother tongue.

Personality

  • Someone who a 14 year old and 15 year old will look up to and respect. So if your 21 and fun, you'll get that respect;)

Salary package

  • You will be provided accommodation and all meals in all locations
  • A flight from the UK to Romania, and then back to the UK are all payed for.
  • The equivalent of 200 GB pounds will be paid to you as 'pocket money' for each month providing you with enough money to manage a simple social life outside of our little world.
  • Basically, your gap year will completely paid for and you will live in a mediaeval village in Transylvania, and a nice part of Hampshire in England with no financial worries.
