Traveling in Egypt can be very enjoyable and easy, if you know what your doing. The problem's start when the tourist touts work out you do not know what your doing and see this as their opportunity to make money from your situation. It's a shame, but that is the way it is in Egypt. If you have the time to prepare yourself with a small amount of the language, a good understanding of where you going, where you want to stay and how exactly your going to get there, you should be OK and not experience too much hassle.

If you have a little time to prepare, I believe the best way to see Egypt is an a relaxed mode where you can feel comfortable with the locals you meet and the only way to do this is, to know what your doing. We like to rent out the Siwa Villa to groups of up to 10 people who want to do the whole thing on their own but just need a little help with organising everything. This is a happy... half way house and it does suit a lot of people.
